RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Qassim region is gaining momentum as an emerging industrial hub. The occupancy rates across its industrial cities have reached 77%, according to a recent government briefing. Currently, 158 factories are in operation, marking a significant step forward in the region’s economic development.
SR700 Million Invested in Q1 2025
During a meeting hosted by the Qassim Chamber of Commerce, Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Khalil Ibrahim bin Salamah, revealed the industrial investments in Qassim. They totaled SR700 million ($186 million) in the first quarter of 2025. The city of Buraydah accounted for the largest portion of this investment.
This growth aligns with the goals of the National Industrial Strategy. Launched in October 2022, it aims to increase the number of factories in the Kingdom to 36,000 by 2035.

The meeting introduced several key programs and initiatives shaping the future of Saudi industry:
- Standardized incentives to enhance industrial competitiveness
- Solutions to reduce environmental impact and boost factory efficiency
- The Factories of the Future Program, promoting automation and digitization
- The Industrial Links Program, which connects local factories with national megaprojects to promote local content

Business Growth in Qassim on the Rise
The Qassim region has recorded 25% growth in its business sector over the last seven years, according to the Ministry of Commerce. The number of commercial registrations rose from 68,000 in 2018 to 85,000 by early 2025.
In 2024, 711 investment contracts were finalized across the region, valued at over SR740 million. Additionally, the municipality launched 1,050 new investment opportunities aimed at supporting local development and improving quality of life.
Driving Vision 2030 Goals
These developments reflect the broader push under Saudi Vision 2030. It aims to diversify the national economy and reduce dependency on oil revenues. One of the strategy’s core goals is to increase the private sector’s contribution to GDP from 40% to 65%.
